About This Place

Edmonds Cafe, nestled at 2299 Piedmont Ave in the heart of Berkeley, is a cherished local gem that blends comforting café classics with a unique “third culture” twist. Stepping inside, you’re greeted by a warm, bustling atmosphere perfect for anything from a quick breakfast stop to a focused study session. With spacious tables, plentiful outlets, and large windows offering a pleasant view, it’s not just a café—it’s a vibrant hub for community and connection.

The menu is an inviting showcase of fresh, thoughtfully crafted options. Their gourmet sandwiches are truly standout; the Club Sandwich is a harmonious medley of thinly sliced smoked turkey breast, crisp bacon, Swiss cheese, and fresh vegetables, served on a toasted ciabatta roll that lends the perfect crunch. Equally irresistible is the Caprese Sandwich, where creamy fresh mozzarella pairs beautifully with wild greens, house-made pesto, and a sundried tomato spread—each bite a delicate balance of savory and fresh flavors. If you’re craving lighter fare, the specialty salads like the Farmer’s Market Salad or the vibrant Mayan Salad burst with seasonal, local ingredients that refresh and satisfy.

Beyond savory delights, Edmonds Cafe excels with its baked treats. From buttery, flaky croissants to the intriguing “third culture” chocolate mochi doughnuts, each pastry offers a comforting warmth wrapped in bold, playful flavors that linger pleasantly. Customers frequently rave about their pretzels and bagels, perfect accompaniments to their exceptional coffee lineup. Whether you prefer a creamy latte, an invigorating iced coffee, or fresh juice, Edmonds consistently delivers drinks that balance richness and brightness, catering to discerning palates, including the Aussie coffee connoctor who praises their Iced Vanilla Latte as unbeatable.

The warm, friendly staff enhance the welcoming aura, making every visit a personal experience. Regulars like Lucy Liu appreciate the convenience and consistency, especially when grabbing a coffee before a busy day at IHouse, while others like Stephen Allen commend the staff’s hospitality and the quality of quick snacks during busy breaks. Edmonds’ commitment to sustainability shines through their partnership with Too Good To Go, reducing waste by offering leftover pastries, a thoughtful touch that also delights the budget-conscious and eco-minded alike.

Whether you’re a student, local resident, or visitor, Edmonds Cafe is more than just a place to eat—it’s a comforting retreat where every item on the menu tells a story of care, culture, and community. Each visit feels like a warm embrace, inviting you to pause, savor, and recharge in Berkeley’s vibrant Piedmont neighborhood.

Good, very convenient! I’m a resident at I-House and visit here quite often, especially when I want to grab a coffee and some food before my morning meeting or class.

Good drinks and pastries for a cafe on campus. They also make leftover pastries available on Too Good to Go which I love and have picked up a couple times. Look out on their social media for deals

This is my go to spot in Berkeley. The staff are really friendly, the place clean and always a good vibe and the coffee is consistently good! As an Aussie we are pretty big coffee snobs and I haven't been disappointed here. Grab their Iced Vanilla Latte while you're here!
